Tasks tab
Tasks are meant to capture individual chunks of work that can be carried out by a single person. Think of tasks as “smaller” than milestones – i.e., one milestone may be comprised of multiple tasks. When you access the Tasks tab for a particular project, you first encounter the task list.
The task list provides a summary of the tasks in the project, including the following fields:
• Status – the current state of this task (i.e., ready to work vs not yet ready to work on).
• Assoc. Milestone – the milestone that this task “falls under” or pertains to.
• Est. Date – the date by the assignee is expected to complete the task.
• Date Closed – the actual date on which the task was closed.
To view the full detail and task history, double click one of the tasks in the list. The Update Task dialog will appear.
Each task must move through a list of statuses during its lifecycle.
These statuses are as follows:
• Pending – the task is setup, but not yet ready to work on.
• Active – the task is ready and is awaiting completion by its assignee.
• Complete – the task has been completed and is awaiting verification by its original creator.
• Closed – the task has been completed and verified.
To advance a task from one status to the next, use the buttons at the bottom of the Update Task dialog.
